Since this article, the author of WinSnap has come up with a new version of the program, v2.0 which is now a shareware. The older version v1.x is still available as a freeware for non-commercial use. The shareware version of the program costs $19.95, $44.95 and $450 for Personal (1 user), Family (5 users) and Site Licence (100 users) respectively.

The new version has been developed specifically for use with Windows Vista and includes features such as - Aero Glass capturing with shadows and transparencies, Alpha-Channel and PNG transparency support, Unique Multi-Object capture mode, Configurable External Tools, Fixed-Size Region capture, New file auto-naming options and Quick-Print shortcut key. A portable version of the utility, which can run from removable drives, is also available for licensed users.
